BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT / KERATIN TREATMENT

Leanna has been a certified Brazilian Blowout hair stylist for over 10 years. Clients rave about how long this treatment lasts, making this one of the top hair services at this Sacramento hair salon.

How does it work?

A Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Treatment coats the hair shaft to help seal the cuticle. When the cuticles on the hair shaft are open, the hair can lack moisture (low porosity), making it prone to fragile, dry, dull, and frizzy hair. Clients who have coils or curly hair tend to have an open cuticle naturally. Because of the hair strands' spiral shape, it doesn't allow for the cuticle to lay flat. So this makes the hair react to humidity and lose its hydration. Having a smoothing treatment will allow your hair to have the appearance of healthy, shiny hair and not to mention frizz elimination.

The treatment will last between 3-4 months.

After the treatment has worn off, the hair goes back to its original state. The Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Treatment is a temporary protective coating that locks around the hair shaft, relaxing your natural texture.

Is there Formaldehyde in the Brazilian Blowout?

Yes, it does contain formaldehyde. Here at Modern Edge, we understand the health concern with this and we try to limit exposure as much as we can. We have fresh air constantly coming through our air vents and an air purifier to help.

What is the difference between Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Treatment?

The Brazilian Blowout process is different from a Keratin treatment. In a Keratin process, you leave the product on for 40 minutes before finishing the rest of the steps. After, your hair isn't to be washed or manipulated for about 24 to 72 hours. The Brazilian Blowout has no product processing time, so when you leave the salon, the treatment is complete.

This is because Brazilian Blowout uses amino acids that are smaller molecules and can be rinsed out on the same day, whereas Keratin uses keratin and has to crystallize for about 72 hours.

Keratin has a lower percentage of formaldehyde found in the product Brazilian Blowout.

Brazilian Blowout is customizable to fit your desires. It can get rid of the frizz, but still allow you to have curls and volume.

Both can last up to three months, sometimes more.

Timing for these services can take anywhere from 1-3 hours, dependent on the length and thickness of the hair.

What Not To Do
